about

I recorded the first song as a joke and I used a random word generator to give me a bunch of words that I than compiled in to 10 haikus, which is how I wrote the words that I sung in all the songs, which means that if you hear something and you think it means something, it doesn't mean anything. But also it does. But it doesn't. 12 songs, 10 haikus per song, that's 120 things that mean absolutely nothing and also mean everything. The words are irrelevant though. All the context you need is that this is what it feels like when your anxiety stifles you and you can't fully live out loud and if you keep it to yourself long enough, things start to get out of control.

I created the album art right before I recorded the second song and my intention was that every song was going to be like the first song where I didn't plug in my electric guitar and just kind of whisper sung in the general vicinity of my mic. Doing the same thing over and over again is boring, so I had to introduce other elements, but anything electric wasn't plugged in to anything, other than my mic, and everything was recorded through a mic in the general vicinity. Sometimes you just got to play with some effects while editing to entertain yourself.

Also, I had to add an asterisk to "My First Such Album" after the second song when I had the weirdest feeling of deja vu and realized I recorded an album at least 20 years ago with the very same idea in mind but I think I wrote real, raw, personal lyrics and it mostly sounded like the second song. Although I'm trying to remember if thats where I originally wrote a parody of The Dandy Warhols "Not if You Were The Last Junkie On Earth" called "Not If This Was The Last Game Show on TV" where I sung about my hair on Pat Sajak, which is definitely something you want to sing quietly because that's dumb and also refutes the idea that it was exclusively deep, emotional songs. That was a few hard drives ago, so I don't have any of it. Coincidentally enough, I was recording an album one time when I had a hard drive crash and I had been having my girlfriend at the time listen to them but we broke up right before my hard drive crashed and I had to ask her if she had any of the songs still and I don't know if she was lying but she supposedly only had a banjo version of "Not If This Was The Last Game Show on TV" which was a pretty good version but I seriously doubt that that was the only song of mine she had because, why? Also, I think remembering that gave me enough historical context to say that the quiet version of "Not If This Was The Last Game Show on TV" wasn't the first version because I recorded that album after that girlfriend, so if she had a version before it, then that song already existed. It was on the unelectrified album though. I should've recorded a version for this album. I don't remember anything other than my hair being on Pat Sajak though.

So, I guess what I was getting at was that this isn't my first such album. But it's just words. That add up to 5 syllables. So does Semen Sylladles. And guess what? Can They Hear Me From Out There adds up to 7. It's a haiku, baby! You just got haiku'd! Yeah! Also, every 3 song titles is a haiku. 5-7-5 but, like, they don't really make any sense. Just like the rest of the lyrics. And that's fine because it's not about the words. It's about the concept, maaaann.
